hmm, at least from perl it works:
*cerebro ~/src/libeio# perl -MCoro::AIO -e 'warn truncate "/tmp/x", 5'
1 at -e line 1.
cerebro ~/src/libeio# ll /tmp/x
-rw-rw-rw- 1 mysql mysql 5 Mar 20 19:20 /tmp/x
