Whether it helps you or not, let me remark that the "beta" for libeio is
because documentation isn't finished and I didn't find the time to polish up
a release.

The code itself is there since 2005 (and in modified form since 2001 in
Linux::AIO), and used quite a lot in production, albeit only via the
IO::AIO perl module (at least for me - I am sure others use it via C).

Lack of documentation and release might still be reasons to avoid it
though :)
