According to the documentation: "at the time of this writing, [kqueue] was broken on all BSDs except NetBSD (usually [kqueue] doesn't work reliably with anything but sockets and pipes, except on Darwin, where of course it's completely useless)"
But I have no idea whether this information is up to date. I also don't know what date "at the time of this writing" is.
