Hello, most of the work in libftdi is around serial communication and its variances like SPI and MPSSE. A lot of work is also for detection of the various FT*32* chips.
For the High speed FT60x, I think a kernel module would be best. In a libftdi context, only the device detection and ftdi_stream make sense for the FT60x. But few people have a setup with the FT60x, so chances are few that anybody else than you will extend libftdi. Did you scan projects at github and similar places about something for your need? Maybe https://github.com/eblot/pyftdi is of interest?
