hmm... did you ever have any luck with endpoint 0x81, or has this been part of the problem all along? (Bear in mind that control messages go to endpoint 0.) I just remembered, the USB Prober application (should be on your system as part of the OS X Dev Tools) has a tree that shows all sorts of lsusb-like information about devices.
