Hi,

The statistics for libmesh on sourceforge go back to January of 2003
or so, so we now have about 8 years worth!

My comments:

.) The mailing list traffic is the statistic I feel is probably least
influenced by web spidering, spam, and robots, but it's also
impossible to tell how many active libmesh users the number of
messages/month actually implies. Subscription counts are 89 for
libmesh-devel, 170 for libmesh-users.

.) I'm not sure if spiders requesting pages with SF logos are counted
in the second plot. The trend of increasing SF logos served may
therefore actually indicate a trend of more google bots roaming the
web rather than a trend of more people viewing our documentation.

.) Finally, the downloads. You can see the trailing average trending
steadily upward, but I really don't know where these downloads are
coming from... especially considering the sporadic nature of our
version releases. I've always assumed most people pull the source
from SVN or install through debian. Are robots downloading libmesh
(google cache)? Anyway, take it for what it's worth.
