It's been *years* since anybody's been interested enough in that class
to work on it; nobody's ever been interested enough to try and figure
out how to get it working nicely with parallel or adaptive runs, and
yet we still get new users building codes around it, presumably
because it's the obvious way to solve a common problem where the
better solution is very non-obvious.

I don't want to remove it (see: "new users building codes around it")
but it might be kind to at least discourage its use a little more...
