So everything does indeed compile for me, but I found that I had to run
'make' in examples/miscellaneous/miscellaneous_ex11 in order to force it to
link the square_mesh.off file.  Just running 'make run' didn't seem to do
this linking step.  But that's probably my own lack of understanding of
automake.

Finally, I fixed a mismatched START/STOP_LOG bug and pushed that on the new
branch.  As has been discussed, switching the logging stuff over to use
RAII would fix this.
