Forgot one:

makefile garbage changed just by adding one file / directory / example.
In general: I just don't understand why the _build system_ should ever be
changing! This my main complaint with what we have with Automake and my
main complaint against CMake as well. The build system should only ever
change if a change is actually needed to the _build system_. It shouldn't
change because of normal development activity (like adding a file!).
