Thanks a lot for that!  It just so happens that I've been messing around
with the DofMap::compute_sparsity() to make it multithreaded -- I'll see
that your fix makes it in there.  Also, now that Roy added a convenient way
to get the continuity for a finite element family we should probably set
implicit_neighbor_dofs=true whenever the finite element space is
discontinuous.
