Specifically: what version of libMesh are you using? (the developers'
head has had a lot of I/O work done recently) What options did you
compile with, and how many processors are you running on? Does this
happen for you with any gmsh file, or just with one particular file;
either way, can you reproduce the problem with a mesh small enough to
email to the list? Have you tried catching the program in a debugger
to see where it's frozen or taking too long; if so where was it?
