Interesting...  We have Intel on linux and my experience has been with C++
that it is slower than GCC, although it is quite good at optimizing Fortran.
We have a cross-platform license for PGI, but don't get me started.

We have a cross-platform license for intel in the budget this year, so
perhaps I will place a higher priority on it now.  Doesn't matter much
though, I've only got a lowly macbook pro and use it just for development.

So you got any interns this summer to work on a regression test suite?
between that box and the 8 cores at my desk we've got plenty of cycles to
spare in the evenings...
