Roy, I've got a quick question: I added a "first order" SCALAR variable to a system with periodic BCs and after I removed the libmesh_error()'s in fe_scalar_shape_*D.C, the periodic SCALAR runs fine, and appears to work as we'd like (i.e. we'd like the periodic constraint not to affect the SCALAR dof, since it's automatically periodic). However, I just wanted to check if you think there are any potential "gotcha's" with this?
