These are libMesh options, so PETSc doesn't recognize them and reports them
as unused.
Additionally, to activate the VI solver you have to use -snes_type virs --
a PETSc option that
sets SNES to be of "reduced space" type. Otherwise the default snes type
ls ("linesearch")
is used, which doesn't use the bounds callback. You can also try -snes_type
viss ("semi-smooth"),
but I haven't tested with that, and it is generally a much more
experimental and much less tested
PETSc component (at least as of petsc-3.3).
I'll update the docs to reflect that.
