Hi John, I have around 250000 HEX 20 elements with 3 dof per node (3D
elasticity). I am running this in parallel with around 4 mpi processes. Thanks,
Subramanya

Hi, I have been running into trouble with 3D simulations owing to excessive
memory usage in build_sparsity(). The code becomes unusable for any systems
larger than 250,000 hex20 elements on a machine with 16GB of RAM. I have a
feeling that this is a bit excessive. Is this what is expected? Is there a way
to reduce the memory usage while building the sparsity?

Have many variables do you have?
What type of finite elements are you using?
Are you running in serial or parallel?
