Thanks. Does every version you try give the same error on that
std::abs override? If so then we'll just test for PGI version numbers
less than 11.8 there as an initial improvement, I think.
This seems to be a problem while linking against VTK (which has been
compiled using a different compiler) so I'll try to compile VTK
using PGI and try linking again.

I thought everything on x86 Unices was using a pretty standard
compiler-independent ABI by now, but that name mangling
"__CPR409__write_nodal_data..." stuff doesn't look like anything I've
seen out of g++ or icpc. Recompiling VTK with PGI (or just
configuring libMesh with --disable-vtk) is probably your safest bet.
