I tried to get you a stacktrace by linking against libmesh_dbg, but I'm getting unresolved references, I'm assuming I configured something incorrectly. Anyway, I skimmed through the code a little bit, and I think that this is the stack trace: System::point_value MeshBase::sub_point_locator PointLocatorBase::build PointLocatorTree::PointLocatorTree() PointLocatorTree::init() MeshTools::bounding_box(Mesh&) FindBBox::bbox() BoundingBox(Point, Point) <- deprecated interface Hope that helps.
