Thank you for your response! Yes - I totally agree with you. I have been
using tosca with ABAQUS and getting great results. I am sure that
developing a code to do that will take way longer time.

I am still interested in learning the math behind the theory, for the sake
of learning as well as potential (very) application-specific optimizations
once I learn well enough. I was thinking that implementing SIMP on my own
is a great starting point, but figured that if someone did it with libmesh
already it'd be nicer to know. :)
