Good evening everyone!
The news has been great!
I just had a long phone conversation with Douglas Friedman moments
ago, and as Robert reported earlier, as of last spring Doug's
condition has improved markedly! He is no longer going through
radiation or chemotherapy treatment, and he is giantly upbeat since my
conversation with him in Christmas 2003.
Robert, I relayed to him your mention that you hadn't heard from him
during his last brief visit in NY. That is largely due to the fact
that he drove up, and ended up in Connecticut before returning home
again.
I also believe he might be considering coming back into active focus
on Liberty Northwest, but we'll have to wait and see if that occurs,
but some of you here might make a difference, by encouraging him to do
so! I hope he does, and a lot of the negative elements since he left,
have long ago disappeared. I would especially like to see him come
back again.
There is one thing I have learned, sometimes the hard way, over the
past several years in dealing with internet newsgroups: It's really
great when individuals can converse in logical fashion on OTHER
forums. The best one is of course, face to face. Another one, is
telephonically, over the phone. I've made it a special point for the
last several years of communicating with Doug over the phone, since
face-to-face contact would obviously involve 6,000 round trip miles
back and forth from Idaho to the East Coast.
Ed Fischang and I haven't done such a thing either, and the distance
is certainly not so great as it certainly is here with Doug. Perhaps
that might be the reason I never recognized his presence hovering
around here for so long.
In retrospect, Dave Laird and I haven't been face-to-face either in
several years, although we are only about 100 miles distant from each
other! Now that's strange too, in and of itself!
I would like to see Robert Goodman invite Doug back into the fold. I'd
like to see Doug back, and I think a lot of others here would
certainly greatly benefit and appreciate this giant of a man's
presence making his way onto our presence once again! We are living
in uncertain times right now, and hearing voices and positions on
various aspects in this sordid mess, is certainly an asset to this
group!
But as this year closes, I encourage some of you to communicate in
other venues with those personalities in which you find least
agreeable with yourself. You might be surprised to find that
cyberspace isn't always the best place to make personal judgements, as
I have long ago found out!
If you have personal adversaries, try to get to know them personally!
It makes a huge difference in the way you learn to deal with
individuals in cyberspace. If you try hard enough, most certainly
some of them will become lasting friends forever!
Give it a try. Make this your New Year's resolution! Please do it,
it's worth a small amount of your time and effort. Trust me!
Kindest regards,
Frank
