Good evening again everyone!

I noticed something Bill Anderson wrote earlier tonight. In the
context, Bill was discussing with Robert Anderson some of the
ways Christmas celebrations had changed, at least in the
historical context in America. Anyone today, at least over 40 or
50 years old, would dispute that.

Which is why there was one Christmas story aired on network
television as late as 1971 which I remember very well. It wasn't
exactly the Son of God coming to earth, born in a stable in
Bethlehem either. But the spirit of the season as envisioned is
certainly evident throughout this old movie. The movie: "The
Homecoming: A Christmas Story" was the prelude that inspired the
long-running Walton series. The cast of characters is slightly
different, in that Andrew Duggan played the role of John Walton
rather than Ralph Wait showing up when the actual series began,
and other actors eventually came onboard later too. However,
Richard Thomas played in this original movie.

But the interesting thing here is that I have been searching for
this movie for over two decades, since the networks jerked it off
the air before Beta and VHS recorders became popular, and no one
seemed to have a taped copy of the movie.

Well folks, that's now changed. Amazon.com has the entire movie
in DVD version, and I found it last night on a random google
search. If you really want a REAL Christmas story to show your
kids or grand kids, this is certainly highly recommended to get
this one while it is still available. It is NOT available in VHS
or Beta formats, but pirated versions may soon be available later
since Werner Brothers holds the copyright and this DVS movie is
licensed.

Again, I want you to know how THIS movie has certainly impacted
my own life! I was it at least during three times since its
origin in 1971 before it suddenly vanished, that I watched it.
It's one of those kinds of movies that move you in such a way to
seek it out many years later and wonder why no one has
resurrected it anywhere, on VHS, Cable Television during the
Christmas season, or any other venue?

IT IS AVAILABLE right now on Amazon.com. Just go directly to DVDs
and type in "The Homecoming"... click on The Homecoming (1971)
and buy it. It's under $12.00!!! Buy three of 'em and you get
past Amazon's free shipping threashold of $25.00 and send the
other two to your children or grandchildren NEXT Christmas. It's
a treasure of a movie, and a treasure of a real Christmas story!

Kindest regards,
Frank
