Good evening again, Tim!

I guess I want to touch upon your terse comments just one more time before going to bed tonight.

Tim Bedding wrote to Dave Laird...

I would prefer that people be talking about the issues
rather than the rhetoric. Frank going off the deep end
resulted in Frank being the story.

In retrospect to what I wrote to you earlier this evening. You, anyone, might prefer a lot of things. That doesn't matter very much in the scheme of things, at least usually. It usually happens by design, as it becomes the easiest target due to vulnerability, usually couched in a legal context of some sort.

However, it is almost always the 'messenger' bringing the issues to bear, that most often becomes the victim in the course of things. I doubt seriously if I ever went off the deep end, as you suggest here. If I did, I can't find any area of source space, in which I really did that. I've tried hard in reviewing carefully what I originally wrote, and I cannot find one single instance in which I dived off the blank in the deep end of the pond.

If I am guilty of anything, it was probably in using common everyday metaphorical language to describe 'treason'. Sure, 'treason' is a strong word even in a metaphorical sense certainly, and you need to know that it was meant to be such, and I find it difficult to grope around and find a way to apologize for saying such a thing, which is exactly what today's newspaper is demanding that I do! Amazing isn't it?

Tim, I suggest it doesn't really matter what you prefer in this case. There are a lot of things I might prefer also, and that probably doesn't really matter very much in the scheme of things either. But political reality suggests at least that political activists, commentators, and perhaps even those of us daring to run for public office, use words carefully crafted to fit various real life situations.

And I humbly suggest that the words that I used were not physically intimidating, but rather directed to take individuals guilty of treason against their own constituents, to account for their own political actions in our recent legislature!

I hope that you might be mature enough to understand the difference here.

Warmest regards,
Frank
