I didn't know that worked also. Nice to have more than one solution. So,
your  /etc/ld.so.conf is something like this:

include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf
include /usr/local/lib
include /usr/lib/odbc
/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/client/lib
