As an adjunct to the catalog we will need to expose new packages, how
about if we also accept public donations (user contributions). People
could fill out a Web form, and upload a ZIP file. A login and password
would let them update the ZIP file again later.
We actually have something like this on the TODO list for Struts 1.1. We
have received several user contributions that are useful, but for one
reason or another, aren't being added to the Struts distribution right
away.
Of course, this would also give Jakarta committers a place to park code
that they wanted to share, but was being maintained in their
subproject's CVS.
If there are security concerns, I'm sure arrangements can be made to
have this portion hosted offsite.
