a summary of what i wrote on #libre.fm before:
to make the promotion of free artists a clean statement and also give them the impact they deserve on libre i would like to suggest two tagclouds, only merely seperated by layout. of course the "free" cloud more to the top of the page, below it the ovaerall cloud. this would solve several problems: - transparency. no one can blame libre.fm for messing with the statistics. - scalability. push the free stuff? make the cloud bigger. - fair weighting. free and overall have the same algorithm applied, just the absolute numbers will probably be different. the most popular free artists will be as "big" as the most popular overall artists. - simple math. no need for special multipliers which might be off-key in a year. grubernd.at _______________________________________________ Libre-fm mailing list [email protected] http://lists.autonomo.us/mailman/listinfo/libre-fm
