I hope that this works, I've never used a mailing list like this. Anyway... I recently considered creating my whole own last.fm alternative seeing how I've done a lot of web development in my life and probably 20% of my current full time job is Javascript work (+70% Java and 10% Photoshop).
But when I thought about all the stuff I'd have to build, I felt that I just don't have time for that. I'd love to contribute though. I feel that all that libre.fm is essentially missing is being able to select time ranges for charts and music recommendations based on what one (as well as other people) have listened to. Shouldn't be THAT difficult to add and would make for a good, first, bare-bones replacement for last.fm. And then one can go from there. Most importantly of course figuring out how to get new scrobbles without people having to edit hosts files or whatever. But someone would have to clue me in on where I can grab the code and commit my own. (And possibly also how to set up a testing environment or set up an environment accessible for all devs interested. Although I suppose that would get messy?)
