             Bug #: 42172
Summary: Problem with font for Greek characters in formula
                    editor
    Classification: Unclassified
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: LibO 3.4.3 RC1
          Platform: x86 (IA32)
        OS/Version: Windows (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: major
          Priority: medium
         Component: Formula editor
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]

On one of my systems (OS: Win XP Professional SP3, English (US)), the Formula
editor has problems with the Greek characters:
1.
The Software uses different fonts for upper- and lowercase Greek characters.
2.
If the Edit-button in the Symbol Table is pressed, the software tells that the
predefined font for lowercase characters is Math1 (math1___.ttf), although this
actually is NOT TRUE! (They seem to be Helvetica or something like that).
3.
For uppercase Greek characters, the Formula editor uses two different fonts:
some letters are denoted as Times New Roman (what is unwanted, but seems to be
correct), while all others are incorrectly denoted as Math1 (although they are
Helvetica or something like that).
4.
If a new font is choosen for the %-commands (e.g. opens___.ttf), these
definitions are overwritten as soon as LibO is opend/started again.

On my other systems (OS: Win XP home edition, Win Vista; both German language)
LibreOffice automatically uses the font opens___.ttf for Greek characters and
there is no problem. Even if I open a file, written on the corrupted system,
the Greek characters are (correctly) shown with this font.

Note 1:
It seems to me that a similar problem also occurred to the person who wrote the
following manual: LibreOffice 3.3 Math Guide.
As indicated there in Figure 7 (page 8), the predefined font is NOT
opens___.ttf (as applied in the description and the table above Figure 7), but
seems to be math1___.ttf!

Note 2:
It seems to me that LibO sometimes uses different standard fonts for Greek
characters on different systems. This should not happen!
Additionally, it should be possible to change this standard font with ONE
click!
