Bug #: 43192
Summary: : confusing label for data validity criterion
Classification: Unclassified
Product: LibreOffice
Version: LibO 3.4.4 release
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Status Whiteboard: BSA
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
Problem description:
Under Data -> Validity -> Criteria it is possible to specify that the value
entered be in a specified range.
That criteria is labelled as "between" which is confusing as it seems to imply
that the minimum and maximum might not be included in the allowed range
(although they are).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Click Data -> Validity
2. In the Criteria tab, look at the Data drop-down selector.
3. On of the options in "between" this would be better labelled as "range", or
perhaps "allowed range".
Current behaviour:
A first-time user has a few moments of puzzlement trying to decide if the
minimum and maximum values specified are included or not in the allowed range.
Expected behaviour:
The label used should make the validity check's behaviour clear to the user.
Platform (if different from the browser):
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Ubuntu; X11; Linux i686; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/8.0
