It is not possible to remove highlighting or change background. The first time I started LOwriter immediatelly after installation, highlighting and background changind worked properly. The pb appears after restarting of computer. The folder .libreoffice was removed before the new installation. The pb with icons of controls does not appear anymore. So LO is unstable for me and I am going to remove it. Nevertheless OOO crashs regularly with non-odf-s, it is sill possible to perform my job with it. At least highlighting works properly.
