Yes, as I said, I don't see the issue under x86 Windows 7, so it's looking like
it's Linux-only.

I agree. But this specific problem definitely exists.

Well, I thought I'd been precise enough at this stage, unless the issue proves
hard to reproduce.

  1) Open in Calc
   1a) Double-click on a copy of CalcDragAndDrop.ods (attachment 54236)
--> Calc opens the file, with cell A103 highlighted
  2) Select a range of cells (say D1:D2)
   2a) Type: Ctrl-Home, Right, Right, Right, Shift-Down
--> Calc shows cells D1:D2 as selected
  3) Drag and drop with mouse (to say E1:E2)
3a) Press and hold 'left' mouse button over cell D1
--> No visual feedback at this point
3b) Move mouse cursor over cell E1
--> Calc shows the "move" mouse cursor and outlines cells E1:E2
   3c) Release 'left' mouse button
   -->  Calc window disappears

Note,

  o) I don't think it matters how the cells are selected in 2a.
  o) I don't think it matters which cells are selected in 2a.
(but it must be more than one cell).
  o) I don't think it matters where the cells are dropped in 3a
(but you must do it using drag and drop with the mouse).

> (and if possible how to created a sample document from the scratch)

CalcDragAndDropCrash.ods was made from a document I had that happened to
exhibit the issue. I removed stuff until the problem went away then
back-tracked one step. The issue does not exist with a newly-created empty
document. I'm afraid I don't know what it is about my document that provokes
the issue, but I provide it in the hope it might be helpful.

% uname -a
Linux aragorn 3.0.0-14-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 21 20:28:43 UTC 2011
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The video card is an Nvidia GT520

> -- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language)

Already reported as 340m1 Build:402. I'm running the British English
localization.

> –- Libo settings that might be related to your problems

The video acceleration setting doesn't affect the issue. I'll collect the full
Calc settings if we're having trouble reproducing this.

> -- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document

Documented above, but I don't think it matters. You can start libreoffice from
the command line, and open the file with Alt-F, O and get the same result.

> -- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

I'd suggest a good place to start would be if anyone else running on Linux
could try it, to see if it's reproducible. Terrence didn't actually do the
drag and drop bit, so might be seeing a different issue.
