However this is the wrong approach. Text is NOT always rendered with kerning=off. This is just the default character formatting. Your patch should consider the real character formatting regarding kerning. Your patch will lead to too wide cells in case kerning is turned on for the whole or a part of the cell content text. Please look also look at issue 118221 to understand, what the correct behaviour is.
