Yes, for me also says "from driver" (even though KCMY and RGB values are set in
the driver and NOT grayscale). I'm using Canon printer.

Now what makes me think this is the issue with Libreoffice Writer and not the
driver. Three things:

1. LO Writer remembers the setting when the document is saved.

That's how I use it now - I saved a blank page with changed settings and use it
every time I need something to print. That's a workaround.

2. Even when I deselect "from driver" and chose the other value, it still
returns everything to default when new document is created.

3. Printing in other programs like GIMP works as should. Whatever is set in
GIMP remains. Default is color, as in the driver. I chose high-res 600dpi and
it's there every time I need some image to print. If the driver was the issue,
GIMP would also print in grayscale by default.

It should be emphasized that LO Writer is defaulting every printer setting. It
could be that "grayscale" was chosen only because it's first in the list. Maybe
it would default anything that's first, so 'grayscale' is just there by a
chance.

I think this could be a valuable info as the bug would be that LO Writer
doesn't save anything that is in "Printer Settings -> Properties -> Device tab
-> Option" list at all, regardless of the color mode.
