Bug 146769 is about restoring all the documents from the last session.
But I understand you ask for more control, i.e. saving several "sets" of
documents.
Related request is bug 37134, which asks for a multi-document interface. In
such an interface, it would make even more sense to have a "collection" of
documents saved as one single session.
