OK, so you are using Unity's global menu, but Unity has been dropped from Ubuntu for a while now, and it's status as a community project seems unsure. Are other applications affected by the same issue? I'd suggest moving to GNOME if you can, and if you want to keep using the same global menus, install one of the global menu addins to emulate the same behaviour. Michael, what's your opinion on this?
