Opening in safe mode and saving still shows the error when opening the file in Excel. Please bear in mind that I use Calc and my colleagues use Excel so testing between us requires co-ordination and goodwill. Similarly, although ODS files do not show the error, always saving as ODS files is not practical because the files are shared amongst several people some of whom are in a different organisation.
