            Bug ID: 160410
Summary: An accented character produces a control character
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 24.2.0.3 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

Hi,

We have a rather specific bug on writer and calc which occurs randomly on a few
workstations.

After a while of use, pressing an accented key (French) such as an "é", an "è"
or an "à" produces another key. Sometimes it's the last ctrl typed, like a
ctrl+c or ctrl+a, or sometimes it's the BackSpace key.

I have the impression that this bug appears after a document has been edited
for a long time.

We tried to solve this problem in safe mode or by starting from an empty
profile.

We use regularly updated Debian testing, we think that this bug appeared in
September 2023 after the transition from version 7.4 to version 7.5.

For a few days, we found a solution, in Calc when we can no longer enter an
accented character in a cell, we enter it in the top bar. In Writer, when you
can no longer enter an accented character in a text, you enter it in the
drop-down menu which allows you to select a font, then you delete it, then you
can enter an accented character in the text again.

I don't know which way to look anymore. If you have any ideas ?

Regards.
