Bug ID: 160463
Summary: Libre Calc locks a file when it's opened in read-only
mode via shortcut command.
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.6.5.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
One spreadsheet I need to open is used by a co-worker. He needs to be able to
edit the file so he needs full access. I only need to find information in it
and I never want to make any permanent changes. Because of this, I want to open
the file in read-only mode so I won't accidentally save any changes and also so
I won't lock the file that my co-worker needs to edit.
I was hoping Calc would handle file locks in the same way Excel does - where a
file opened as read-only is not locked.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a shortcut to a spreadsheet file, and in that shortcut specify that
it be opened as read-only. Shortcut target: [Libre Calc path] /r [target
spreadsheet path]
2. Use shortcut to open document.
3. Have another user try to open the same document normally. They will be
notified the file is locked by another user.
Actual Results:
Despite being opened as read-only, Calc will lock the file so other users
cannot edit.
Expected Results:
Since the document is being opened in away that it cannot be altered, there is
no reason for Calc to lock access to the file.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Please change Calc so it does not lock a file that it is unable to alter in the
first place.
Thank you!
