This is marked for Windows, but I experience the same issue in Linux: large
files (1,000+ pages) still take a long time to load in Writer and the cursor is
placed randomly in the middle of the document (not the end, i.e., where it was
last when the document was last saved).

My version info using Kubuntu 24.04:
Version: 24.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 420(Build:2)
CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb)
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
