Bug ID: 161464
Summary: Libre Math: Request for Synthetic Division Symbol
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
I would like to request that a Libre Math formula layout be created for
synthetic division.
Reference:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_division
It should look something like this but with the left and bottom line being
joined and solid. Generally there is a little down arrow underneath the first
coefficient in the top line.
f(x)= 2x^4 + 3x^2 + 5x + 1 / (x-2)
2 | 2 0 3 5 1
| 4 8 22 54
----------------
2 4 11 27 55
That gives 2x^3 + 4x^2 + 11x + 27 with a remainder of 55.
It would be nice if there was a way to do long polynomial division as well.
That would likely be a lot trickier to implement though.
Thank you
