Bug ID: 161475
Summary: Footer 'Same content on first page' not saved
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.6.7.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Writer can be set to have a different footer on the first page of a document,
but the setting is not saved with the document and reverts to checked status.
The page 1 footer content is overwritten with the content from the remaining
pages' footer.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer, create a new document without template
2. Point to Format > Page style... and select the Footer tab
3. Select 'Footer On', deselect 'Same content on first page' and click OK
4. On the first page, click in the footer area and Enter 'Page ' then point to
Insert > Field > Page number
5. Click back in the page area, optionally type 'Page 1', then Ctrl-Enter (or
point to Insert > Page break)
6. In page 2, type 'Page 2' and press Ctrl-Enter again
7. In Page 3, type 'Page 3', then click in the footer
8. Type a hyphen and space, point to Insert > Field > Page number, type another
space and hyphen
9. Click the Centre button to centre the footer
10. Click the Print Preview button. You should see the first page with 'Page 1'
at the left, and the remaining two pages '- 2 -' and '- 3 -' respectively
centred
11. Save the document and close
12. Re-open the document. You will observe that the first page's footer is now
'- 1 -' centred
13. Point to Format > Page style... and observe that 'Same content on first
page' is checked again.
Actual Results:
The option 'Same content on first page' is only preserved while the document is
open
Expected Results:
That the footer option will be saved in the document file and reloaded with the
document and the first page footer preserved.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
Impact: Users must remember to reset the first page footer every time they
re-open a document with different first page footers. This affects most
documents in my company as the company template has company information in the
first page footer and page numbers thereafter. This bug makes a page number
appear superimposed on the company information (which is in a frame) and looks
very unprofessional.
