I apologize for my ignorance. I don't see what this new attachment proves. The
only difference is that instead of using values of 3000 to 5000 in cell C5, we
have to use much higher values (15000 or 20000) in order to arrive to the
lookup value of zero within a lower amount of rows in the table (257 or less).

I see the same behaviors as described in comment 6. "First" encountered
location of MATCH() fails to recalc, holding on some kind of prior/latest
cache. Hard recalc works.
