yes, I thought so...

BUT there is a better option.. color! (see below "......")

What should be achieved: 
if there are comments in the document, it should be easily perceivable even
when they are hidden... 


as it is now:
when you hide comments only one thing indicates that there are comments:
the fact that the title "comments" is there.. at the top of the comments
"column"

the tool tip text is already "show comments"...

BUT DOESN'T matter...
color could do it perfectly...

using COLOR:


Right now, when there are comments, if you hover over with the cursor, the tool
tip text appears, "show comments"..
and the color changes to some color, according to the OS theme... 
in my case, from gray to blue...

If this color was there even without hovering with the mouse, it would be
perfectly visible... 
a clear-cut indication that there are comments... 

And the tooltip could remain as is, "show comments" / "hide comments"..
