Bug ID: 162162
Summary: 24.2.5.2 Data Validation Error Alert Resetting Field
in Calc issue not present in 7.3.7.2
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.2.5.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I have tested this in Windows and Debian with the same result. Tested on
multiple computers with same result. Windows is running the x64 installation.
Debian is running 7.3.7.2 from repository and 24.2.5.2 from Flathub. I have a
sheet with drop down data validation fields. Those fields have a area after
the drop down to customize. Something like "The reference number is XX. "
That part is select-able from the drop down list and the the XX is replaced
with custom content such as "1723819379". I have data validation set to
Information but with the "Show error message when invalid values are entered"
turned off. In version 7 this lets me select the item from the list and
customize it at the end of the string. However in version 24 it removes
anything that I change and sets it back to just what is available in the drop
down. The basic idea is I want drop down options but I do not what the system
to validate them and accept whatever changes I make after the selection is
complete.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create new sheet and add a validated cell with list as the criteria
2.Set error alert to information and turn off show error message
3.Select the item from the drop down and then try to modify it in any way.
Actual Results:
The changes you made manually are dropped
Expected Results:
The changes you made are kept
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
I am not opposed to finding a different way to accomplish my objective. All I
want is a way to select from a drop down list in a specific cell and then let
me modify it. Think of it like shortcuts. I am submitting a bug because I
have used this method and it has worked for years but now it does not.
