Description:
After opening a Math document and using "Format" clicking on Power, even though
the cursor was on the third line in text panel, Power element was inserted at
the beginning and curly brackets were placed in the text panel.

Just clicking the "new line" element in new document curly brackets were placed
in the text panel.

Have not tried other elements but suspect they do not work correctly as well.
All other modules work as expected. Version info below

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open new Math document with text editor panel.
2.Click newline element in Format, curly brackets inserted instead of
"newline".
3.Opening a existing Math document, inserting newline results in many curly
brackets inserted in whole document.

Actual Results:
curly brackets inserted instead of "newline" and new element like Power is
inserted at beginning of document. 

Expected Results:
"newline" inserted Power element inserted at cursor position
