Wait, the issue is *not* our current minimum 1024x768px at 100% resolution,
rather it is the way each DE implements display scaling. Stéphane had pointed

Effectively we design for 1024x768px at 4:3--though I actually think it should
be at a 16:9 or FWXGA 720p (1360/1366x768px) since we provide Impress template
graphics at 16:9--but in reality the stated system display requirement must be
recalculated upward by user when simple x1.5, x2, or x3 affine transform
scaling is in use by the users DE. That needs to go into the system
requirements.

Windows WDM, either scaling mode, handles the subframes correctly. So little
noise from that group of users. Don't know about the other back ends/DEs.
