The original problem was that you can have various cell types in Calc (text, number, formula, etc), but HTML can only handle text. These additional metadata attributes try to help the next importer to reconstruct the original cell type. Think of getting a "$2,000" for USD 2000 and later you want to do a SUM() on the value. https://vmiklos.hu/blog/sc-clipboard-paste.html has more details on this with screenshots.
