Ok, it's good to hear that using gtk3 works fine :)

You can launch from the command line with:

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice

to temporarily use the generic/x11 UI for testing.

Of course we should fix such slowness issues even in the fallback UI, so let's
keep this open.

In my comment 5 I was testing under a Wayland session. Were you in a Wayland or
X11 session?

There is a quite convenient script that creates appimages even out of daily
builds:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel/Linux#Automated_installation

You can likewise set the SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN environment variable when launching
an appimage from the command line.

Further, it is possible for you to investigate when the slowness appeared by
using our binary bisect repositories:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect/Linux

Let me know, if you need guidance with this.
