I had this issue recently in 7.6.7.2 in an approx 50-slide Impress document
(ODP format file). Several slides near the start of the document lost their
equations. Fortunately I was using Subversion on this occasion and could fish
out the earlier slides from an earlier commit and restore them.

Perhaps there could be some checksums oof some sort applied -- eg how many
equations were successfully loaded, compared to the number that were present
when the file was saved?

Also, if a document contains corrupted elements, shouldn't there be a warning
when the file is loaded or saved, so that corrective action, if possible, can
be taken as early as possible?
