If you intend to simultaneously/directly show "gazillion" lines of text in one cell, there is no way to do it in Calc, no matter where the formula bar is located. Additionally, on the right-end of the formula bar, there is a down-arrow that allows to expand the height of the formula bar input window box. Not only that, but after the initial expansion (by means of the mentioned arrow), you can expand the height even further – IIRC it allows up to 25 lines to be shown directly, before having to use the scroll bar within the window box itself.
