Thank you for the useful information. I've downloaded ONLYOFFICE and found that
the 'Morph' transition works well with it.

I am not sure if I want to make a complete switch, but I will keep ONLYOFFICE
installed to use alongside LibreOffice, at least for now.

As I understand it, ONLYOFFICE is built to use OOXML as its native format,
while LibreOffice is built for ODF. I am not sure if this difference makes it
difficult to take the 'morph' transition in ONLYOFFICE and add it to
LibreOffice, but I certainly hope that the morph-like transition will become
available in LibreOffice Impress in one way or another. I know animation can be
used for similar effects, but I find the 'morph' transition a lot easier and
intuitive to use than animating individual objects.
