Bug ID: 163252
Summary: Impress/wayland: lag/visible display readjustment in
presentation when switching slides
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 24.8.1.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Impress
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
In recent releases of Libreoffice an important defect of impress has been
solved in that presentations can be delivered with impress on Wayland even when
the projector is configured to have a different scaling than the principal
display of the computer. Before that, the presentation ended up using only a
part of the presentation screen or, the other way round, only a part of the
slides could fit on the presentation screen.
While this is very good in principle, the solution is still not optimal. When
you have the projector screen with a different scaling factor than your main
screen you now get a nasty visual glitch when passing from a slide to the next
one.
This is as if the new slide was initially displayed at a wrong scale (as it was
the case until recent) and then got adjusted to the proper scale.
Clearly this glitch is breaking the transition effects.
Seen on Linux/Wayland with the KF6 VCL. I will try other VCLs too and report.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attach a projector or an external screen to your Linux/Wayland system
2. Set the scaling factor for the external screen differently from that of your
main screen
3. Start impress and start playing a presentation
4. Progress from one slide to the next one
Actual Results:
As you move from one slide to the next one, the new slide is shown at a wrong
scale for a brief fraction of time, to be then rescaled properly.
Expected Results:
There should be no visible rescaling, since the latter is breaking transition
effects.
Reproducible: Always
